Just get the ID

This is in response to Zach Turner's  blog on Voter ID's

Voting is an important aspect of our society and we have to make sure that the people voting are legal citizens that have an idea who and what they are voting for. I completely agree with you and I feel as though requiring an ID in order to vote should not be that be that big of a deal. Yes some may say it is a it is not fair to those who live far away but shouldn’t every voting eligible adult at least have some kind of state provided form of identification? To me that is just a lame excuse. Also saying that it is the Republicans way of hurting Democrats is kind of an extreme stretch to the situation because if Democrats in society really want to go out and be involved with their Government they could at least take that step to getting a voter ID and so could Republicans or any other party for that matter.

Voting is vital and the decisions made affect each and every individual and society as a whole so it is important that the people voting have an idea as to whom and what they are rendering power to. Though some voters do not really care about the politicians they vote for, maybe because they are forced or pressured into doing so, but for most people that will actually leave their houses and drive all the way to a voting center to cast a ballot means they know what they want for society and who would do their job for them and they are passionate about it thus I do not think these people would mind getting a voter ID for this reason.

Also like you said this ID costs about the same as a Driver’s License which is 20 bucks, I think that is pretty affordable. And also having this ID helps lower voter fraud throughout the nation. People should just suck it up, get the ID and go vote.

Issues faced by Cities and Local Governents

Most Texas cities are now experiencing many of the same problems as the older cities of the East and Midwest. As popularly known, populations are aging, and there is evidence of white flight from central urban areas. A significantly larger share of the population though in the central cities like Houston and Dallas is low income earners and these people are not able to afford taxes to support public services. Nonetheless, these Cities are faced with significant problems like increasing crime rates, deteriorating infrastructures and overcrowding in some areas. Federal and State Governments have incorporated additional requirements, or consents, on the Cities that are increasingly difficult to meet.

Local Governments in the State are trying out various solutions with how to deal with these pressing issues. Because Cities can take control of certain regions and they possess the legal ability to extend their authority over their assigned boundaries, they can use these powers to expand their tax bases and exercise limited controls over development in nearby areas into their Cities. Another solution is that cities are using public improvement districts to allow specific affected areas to impose additional taxes for needed services. Both Counties and Cities are also privatizing governmental functions to reduce costs and increase efficiency. Another option that has been proposed is Inter-local contracting which permits governments to provide services to each other based on contracts this will go forth to improve the standards of society as a whole instead of having some much more on a higher level than others, and many Counties and Cities are engaged in aggressive economic development programs. With these propositions on the way it is possible that if effectively implemented we would see less of these urban issues and more of a well improved society.

It is a requirement.Just deal with it!

According to what doesn't make sense about that? the author defends the fact that voters should be required to present an ID in order to vote and I totally agree with her on this point. Any school, state or official office in general will require one to have some kind of state issued ID whether drivers license or passport  and it makes even more sense to have an ID in order to vote. Voting is an important issue in society since we are choosing people that would lead and make major decisions in the state and as such one must like she said have met the qualifications to vote which are that they have to be a US citizens, at least 18 years of age and cannot be a convicted felon or be deemed mentally incapacitated. This will allow for a fair environment and guarantee that voters at least have a clue as to what or who they might be voting for. Also she  said that this might lessen votes especially in Texas were the majority are Hispanics and some illegal, and though this is true, most of these immigrants are looking to get their permanent residency and eventually citizenship status so this might boost voter turnout like it did in Indiana and Georgia. Still this remains a fair and non discrimination requirement in the state.
